The Hagerty Driving Experience

Hagerty Insurance is helping to build the next generation of classic car enthusiasts, and keeping the collector community strong. As part of these efforts, The Hagerty Driving Experience will be hosted at the Reynolds-Alberta Museum on Saturday, July 22nd!   

If you choose to participate as a student:

First introduced in 2011, The Hagerty Driving Experience has provided "behind the wheel" opportunities for more than 500 young drivers to learn how to start, operate and drive exciting manual transmission classic cars! If you or someone you know are between the ages of 15 and 25 and would like to participate as a student, we encourage you to register. Registration is limited and a valid driver’s license or permit is required. You may also choose to be a spectator at this event.

When you visit

  • The museum is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students in The Hagerty Driving Experience will have access to the museum grounds and building beginning at 8:30 a.m., as the classroom component of their program begins at 9:00 a.m. in the museum’s main theatre.
  • The outside drive-through admissions booth will be open. This booth has two admission windows.
  • Students of The Hagerty Driving Experience, as well as one guest per student, will receive free admission to the museum.
  • The entire main parking lot will be used by The Hagerty Driving Experience; the viewing public will be directed to alternative parking on site in the west field.
  • Parking is free
  • RV and motorcycle parking is available
  • Handicapped parking is limited
  • The Hagerty Driving Experience will take place rain or shine

What's happening inside the museum?

Feature exhibition The McLaughlin Story - 150 Years of Carriages, Cars and Canada Dry

  • See more than 20 beautifully restored and as-found McLaughlin and McLaughlin-Buick vehicles
  • Learn about the incredible story of the McLaughlins and the Canadian auto industry
  • Test your knowledge with the trivia game, “In Pursuit of McLaughlin”
  • Put on the “White Gloves” and let your guide take you across the barriers for an up-close and personal look at selected vehicles that have great Canadian stories
  •  Enjoy guided tours of the Warehouse to see the rare, unusual and one-of-a-kind
  •  Children can explore the Farm House filled with toys
  •  All ages can play the Across Canadian Race game
  • Cuddle up in the indoor Drive-In and see movie clips from Heritage Minutes, National Film Board, and Hinterland Who’s Who
  • Check our specially designed collector postcards in honour of Canada’s 150th birthday. If you want to send them to friends, we will mail them for free!
  • Museum store and Cruisers Café are open

What's happening on the museum grounds?

  • The Hagerty Driving Experience will occupy the entire main parking lot
  • Hagerty information tents will be located in the main parking lot
  • Open Cockpit Bi-plane Adventures
  • Please note, the chauffeur-driven Vintage Vehicle Tour Program will NOT be operating on this day.

How will I get around

  • Limited number of scooters, wheelchairs and wagons available at the Museum Store; first come, first served

Can I bring my pets?

  • Pets are allowed on the grounds as long as they are on a leash
  • No pets are allowed in either of the museum buildings
