Turner Valley Gas Plant Provincial Historic Site


Alberta Culture has worked with other government departments and stakeholders to mitigate the contaminants within the historic plant site. From clean-up programs for asbestos, mercury, sulphur and hydrocarbons-contaminted soil to cleaning of storage tanks, lines and vessels, significant work has been undertaken.

This work, based on a risk management model, will allow for the permanent preservation of significant historical elements of the gas plant operation that reflect its evolutionary history. Learn more about reclamation, clean-up and studies and test results:
